As we continue to work on our new recordings, we are also weeks away from the arrival of our youngest new fan courtesy of our bassist Mike D and his wife Kat. And with these pics, they’re already pre-gaming on being amazing parents! Do you think in that top left pic that “The Genius in Youth” is serenading our young bass phenom to be? Possibly. Lol. We’ll keep you posted on their “release date”! #BabyOnBoard #NewFan #MusicLover

HATE makes you draw lines.LOVE makes you cross them.
HATE shows the world what it shouldn’t see. LOVE shows the world what it didn’t know it could see.
Some people use God to excuse their actions of HATE as if it’s God’s will. And a number of religions THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF HISTORY have had their fair share of questionable actions against humanity. So despite your best efforts to be the best human being/role model you can possibly be, please don’t live under the false pretense that any religion is totally pure. I’m sure some of every religion’s best misinterpretations have made some beautiful soul, ugly, and some lost soul seek an honest path of redemption.I am not against religion although I chose not to follow any specific one. That sentence alone has already made some of you pass the smallest judgement on me. But that ‘s OK  I may question your actions but I will NEVER judge the person you are. Human Beings are the most complicated creatures on the face of this planet and I cannot presume to know everything about you by one sentence you write or by the books you read. However, I do believe in God. I do believe some form of Heaven is inevitable. I do believe in kindness towards others and random acts of kindness. I do feel blessed to have the friends and family that I presently have in my life and I do believe in making as many friends as possible so as to eliminate the word enemy from my vocabulary. There may only be so many hours in a day but I do try to find a moment to at least offer a random hello or some best wishes during the holidays, just to show those that I am not as close to as I’d like to be, that they are still remembered and their friendship is of value to my life.I am no leader. I do not presume to know what’s best for you and your life. I am here only on a supporting role, to share my life’s experiences with all friends, acquaintances and strangers alike, not by preaching in an open hallway but by advising, mostly by request, as a confidant and sometimes when you just may seem to need some words to lift your spirit. That in part, is who I am… and all I can offer. But should I find some truth that some higher power has genuinely turned any dear friend into some sort of hatemonger or enemy of humanity, that higher power alone, will have to answer to me because no God is worth following if he/she is only out to ruin that which he/she has created.
**This post is my view alone and does not speak on behalf of the remaining members of the band. They may both agree and disagree with words written here. They may see both my strengths and weaknesses in these words but, none the less, they KNOW in their hearts that they are my family and I wish no ill will towards anyone, and whether or not we entirely agree, we accept each others flaws and we work together to the best of our abilities, WE COEXIST!**

Canvas Radio’s beloved drummer, Greg Schwab, just put the finishing touches on his underground bunker and says he’s now ready for the Apocalypse. We know what your thinking but don’t worry, he won’t starve. Somewhere in here is a fridge filled with beer.

The Day the Music Died

As a songwriter, I try to record any idea I get, whether I’m singing it, playing it on my guitar or sounding like a fool by humming the idea onto a recorder. With today’s technology, I’ve been recording ideas onto my phone recorder but never backed them up onto my computer. Long story short… Phone died. Phone replaced. Est. 30 song ideas gone (SD card empty). Any artist who feels stripped of their creative outlet (even if the effects are just temporary) knows my present pain. A moment of silence in the name of the nameless song ideas that will never come to be… Sniff sniff Moving on… Canvas Radio fun fact : The intro melody to our song Tin Man was first sung onto a hand recorder, saved and didn’t resurface until 4 years later when it was completed. Even the oldest idea can be worth something when you don’t give up on it.

The following are the lyrics to the Canvas Radio song Tin Man that was released earlier this year on our self titled 4 song EP.
Tin Man
lost in the pages, you found me/ and you knew right away/ that something was missing when you listened/ with your ear to my chest/ and heard the silent song that sings of the missing heart it seems/ and among the more peculiar things/ you found a hero in need of saving
It’s been a while since a smile/ has ever graced this beaten path/ I’ve mostly met my share of thieves/ and what you see is all that’s left/ of a man or something less/ with this echo in my chest/ just this hollow shell precedes me/ makes me wonder what you see in me when
there are kings and there are castles and champions for miles/ and there are fairly tales that will make it worth your while/ but you see something in me/ that in faith deserves a chance/ and you filled the spot of the missing heart of this tin man
she took my hand when it was cold/ but she never did let go/ now everyday this beat grows stronger/ it took her heart to make me whole/ and as I shed my armored skin/ you start to see the man within/ the man she always knew was there/ that no disguise could keep her eyes from seeing
that there are kings and there are castles/ and champions for miles/ and there are fairy tales will make it worth her while/ but not all happy ever afters are found in the stories that you know/ sometimes they’re in the ones you call your own
when so many empty seasons changed/ I never thought I’d see the day/ when someone would consider me/ more than what I appear to be/ and in that time I spent alone/ that was long enough to call it home/ just when I seemed content/ you show up and prove me wrong/ now I’m standing here before you/ with all my confessions in my eyes/ and there are things that they may show you/ that my words fail to describe/ that you’re the light beyond trees/ that was always out of reach/ and with one little twist of fate/ you became the better part of me
there are kings and there are castles/ and champions for miles/ and there a fairy tales that will make it worth your while/ but not all happy ever afters/ are found in the stories that you know/ sometimes they’re in the ones you call your own

Chapter by Canvas Radio

“The following are the lyrics to the Canvas Radio song entitled Chapter. The inspiration for the song was basically about a time when I had encountered a number of friends dealing with a bunch of different hardships almost at the same time as each other. Whether it was a string of bad luck, ending a relationship, self doubt or just lost their direction. And even though they were doing their best to work through it on their own, they still felt like they had to wait their turn for things to improve. The lyrics do their best to confirm the hardships and emotion. They also point out trying to work through those tough times and to keep doing your best to see a better side when all of this will be in the past where you can laugh at that one chapter of your life that may have leaned on you quite a bit but didn’t get the better of you. I hope you like the lyrics.”

-Charlie

Chapter Lyrics by Charlie Toro

Sitting there just staring into space With a cold cup of coffee resting on the table She’s preoccupied with everything that’s going on Or not in her life She may have a lot to say But right now her mind is as blank as the page Of her attempt to document All that she may want to change

‘cause she feels Like she’s stranded on a deserted island And the only message in the bottle she found Was not meant for her And she prays for some better days With hopes that they’re only a sunrise away ‘cause she’s doing all that can be done To make her world change

She walks like she’s in a losing battle With gravity Like it weighs on her so much It even keeps her eyes Fixed onto the street Now the sky may be the limit But it seems that her present has clipped her wings And since her fall from grace it appears That she doesn’t have much faith in anything

‘cause she feels Like she’s stranded on a deserted island And the only message in the bottle she found Was not meant for her And she prays for some better days With hopes that they’re only a sunrise away ‘cause she’s doing all that can be done To make her world change

She would say that her world is flat ‘cause she swears she’s seen the edge so many times She looks for places That may have some trace Of a memory more heartfelt and kind To set the tone To bring her out of the cold And help put the ease back in her mind To be free of this chapter To look back and laugh At that moment when she was feeling

Like she’s stranded on a deserted island And the only message in the bottle she found Was not meant for her And she prays for some better days With hopes that they’re only a sunrise away ‘cause she’s doing all that can be done To make her world not feel Like she’s stranded on a deserted island And the only message in the bottle she found Was not meant for her And she prays for some better days With hopes that they’re only a sunrise away ‘cause she’s doing all that can be done To make her world change

Mission Statement for 2012

Dear Self,

I regret to inform you that if you’re life is not headed in the direction you want by now then I’ve taken the liberty to rivse the original plan. Plan B is as follows…

  1. Surround yourself with unconditional love, inspiration and motivation. All others need not apply.

  2. Build an idea to better yourself daily. Don’t overthink or think too big. (You don’t build a house from the top down). Start off small and realistic. The more you complete, the more confidence you’ll have to tackle larger goals.

  3. GET OFF YOUR ASS YESTERDAY AND MAKE IT HAPPEN!!

  4. When justifying why it didn’t happen yet, slap yourself in the face before completing the sentence ” Ya but,… ” and ask yourself “What did you learn? “

  5. Read steps 2 and 3 again and execute with twice the effort.

That is all.

-Charlie

P. S. If you are overwhelmed and feel the need to cry it better be because you made it. All other tears blur your vision of your goal and solve nothing.

Get.. it.. done.
